SUMMARY:
In order to make our food store operations ever more efficient, Metro has created a team whose mandate will be to identify and implement initiatives designed to improve our operational excellence in order to better serve our customers. Whether it involves implementing technological solutions or reviewing our ways of doing things, the Continuous Improvement team will work in collaboration with store operations teams to simplify and improve the experience of our customers and our employees for all our banners (Metro Ontario, Metro Quebec, Food Basics, Super C, Adonis).
 

The deep understanding of the store operations of the Continuous Improvement Director will be key to playing a challenge/refinement function for each workstream.  The Director will understand the challenges, opportunities, and potential friction points for implementing solutions within the store.  The Director will work with key individuals in each of the banners to gain their feedback, buy-in and support.


SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identify opportunities to improve customer & employee experience to maximize sales/margins and costs reduction by deploying in-store technology and optimizing operational processes.
- Define measurable objectives and business requirements to track benefits
- Explore industry best practises and available technologies to address business needs.
- Transparently track and communicate outcomes/benefits of initiatives that create tangible top and bottom-line benefits.
- Engage and influence appropriate stakeholders so the right people are involved in the right ways to co-create the future and to accelerate deployment.
- Coordinate, analyse and share inputs and outputs (data collection, process documentation and store-level observations).
- Identify synergies, design and integrate assets that benefit multiple work streams to deliver value early and often.
- Enable an iterative approach to prioritize actions and initiatives, making sure that the organization is focused on ‘problems worth solving’ and constant learning and feedback.
- Oversee pilots, tests, solution deployment and measurements.


QUALIFICATIONS: 
- 10+ years of experience in store operations or continuous improvement
- Store operations / management experience is a strong asset
- Understanding of the functions and interconnectivity of departments and stores
- Day-to-day operations management, production management, labour scheduling, etc
- Managing or understanding retail P&L is an asset
- Familiarity with the support functions within the broader enterprise (e.g. HR, IT, Supply Chain, Finance, etc.)
- Communication and influence skills
- Results driven, open mind and challenger mindset
- Ease working with data and technology
- Experience in project deployment
- Ability to work in ambiguity context with multiple teams involved
- Bilingual is an asset
