About the Role
As a Clinical Pharmacist at Metro’s Pharmacy Health Clinic, you will provide patient-centered care in a retail setting, offering prescribing services, medication therapy management, and clinical consultations to improve health outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and prescribe for minor ailments (e.g., skin conditions, infections, allergies).
- Conduct medication reviews and optimize drug therapy for chronic conditions.
- Perform A1C and cholesterol testing to support diabetes and heart health management.
- Administer vaccinations (COVID-19, flu, travel vaccines).
- Provide travel health consultations and prescribe preventative medications.
- Prescribe and dispense oral antiviral treatments (e.g., Paxlovid).
- Educate patients on lifestyle changes and medication adherence.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain accurate documentation and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure compliance with Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) standards.
- Provide exceptional customer service, addressing patient concerns and inquiries.
- Stay updated on new clinical guidelines and pharmacy regulations.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education – B.Sc.Phm. Degree (4-year University Pharmacy Program).
- Licensure – Registered Part A Pharmacist with the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
- Injection certified, Smoking Cessation certified and registered with the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
- Strong clinical knowledge in primary care and chronic disease management.
- Ability to work independently and make evidence-based prescribing decisions.
- Excellent communication and patient counseling skills.
- Experience in a retail pharmacy or clinical setting is preferred.
- Proficient with current PC systems, MS Office programs and pharmacy software (Kroll)
- Interpersonal skills to build strong working relationships and positive work environment
- Language skills to communicate clearly and listen carefully in a respectful manner.
- Organizational skills to prioritize, plan ahead, manage time and be punctual.
- Customer service skills to achieve customer satisfaction by recognizing customer needs/wants.
- Receptivity to accept constructive feedback for continuous improvement.
- Initiative to identify and complete tasks independently.
