This position is part of a unionized bargaining unit. The hourly wage for this position starts at $16.60 and is established in accordance with the collective agreement. Depending on a candidate’s relevant knowledge, skills, education, and prior experience, a higher hourly wage may be offered. Any hourly wage offered for this role, whether starting or higher, will fall within the wage scale established for this position in accordance with the collective agreement.

Job Description

Our Bakery team is fundamental to Metro’s overall success, and our staff play a key role in creating a positive shopping experience for our customers.

If you enjoy meeting new people, helping others, and working in a fast-paced environment, the Bakery department is waiting for you!

What You'll Do:

Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers and assisting with product inquiries.
Prepare, package, and label bakery products such as bread, pastries, and desserts.
Ensure freshness and quality by rotating stock and monitoring product dates.
Follow recipes and baking instructions accurately for in-store prepared items.Maintain a clean and organized work area, including sanitizing equipment and surfaces.
Assist with merchandising and display setups to showcase bakery products attractively.
Operate bakery equipment safely and efficiently.
Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards at all times.
Assist with additional tasks and projects as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

Prior bakery experience and product knowledge is recommended
Customer service driven
Strong Communication Skills
Able to follow recipes
Able to stand for prolonged periods of time
Must be available to work flexible shifts which may include nights and weekends
