The typical salary range for this position is $69,840.00 - $96,030.00 annually. The base salary offered will be determined based on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity considerations.

SUMMARY:

Centralized Marketing Services at METRO operates as a center of expertise supporting all Metro Inc. banners. Its mandate includes the management of media initiatives across both provinces, covering strategy, planning, and execution for traditional and digital media.

The candidate will be responsible for executing media plans for METRO Group banners, serving as a strategic partner and media expert for each brand.

Reporting to the Media Manager, Planning and Audience Strategy, and leading a skilled media agency team, you will play a key role in supporting Metro’s food banners. Your responsibilities will include overseeing deliverables, ensuring follow-through, and aligning the 360° media strategy for the Ontario market.

You will contribute to media strategy and planning by analyzing market data, identifying target audiences, developing media plans, optimizing advertising campaigns, and managing budget allocations. You will also monitor media trends, evaluate campaign performance, and drive strategic projects forward.

As a team leader, you will support team members through ongoing training, workload management, and process improvements that enhance value. You will also act as a key resource for Metro’s internal stakeholders.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supporting Banners:

  • Oversee, manage, and ensure timely delivery of media-related outputs for Metro Ontario banners
  • Collaborate closely with banner leads to listen, advise, and align on ideas and opportunities
  • Play a key role in advancing strategic initiatives such as ethnic targeting and digital media flyer testing
  • Actively contribute to internal discussions and cross-functional collaborations
  • Ensure alignment and cohesion of the 360° media strategy across all Ontario food banners
  • Lead the omnichannel investment strategy for all campaigns at both the omnibanner and omnichannel levels
  • Identify, maximize, and integrate synergies and opportunities within 360° advertising campaigns across banners and channels
  • Serve as a key resource for internal stakeholders throughout the development and execution of omnichannel media plans for Metro Inc. banners

Media Strategy and Planning:

  • Collect and analyze market and business data to extract actionable insights
  • Identify target audiences and understand their behaviors, preferences, and media habits
  • Recommend the optimal media mix to support campaign objectives
  • Optimize advertising campaigns based on geographic reach, frequency, duration, and other key parameters
  • Manage budget allocations and monitor campaign costs to ensure efficiency
  • Stay current with media trends across both online and offline channels (e.g., TV shows, magazines, blogs, radio programs)
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of media strategies and campaigns to inform future planning

Team Supervision:

  • Support team members in the development and execution of media strategy, activation, optimization, and reporting
  • Contribute to ongoing training initiatives for both internal teams and external partners
  • Manage the daily operations of integrated agency teams, including weekly status meetings and regular touchpoints with team members
  • Continuously improve team processes to enhance value creation and drive more effective, efficient media initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5 to 7 years (or more) experience in planning across all national media channels
  • 1 to 2 years of team supervision experience is an asset
  • 1 to 2 years of retail experience is an asset
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or a related field
  • Experience with planning tools (Vividata, Comscore, NLogic, etc.)
  • Good understanding of SEM, programmatic, paid social media
  • Advanced knowledge of optimization best practices
  • Experience with Google Analytics or Adobe Analytics is an asset
  • Basic knowledge of data management platforms (DMPs)
  • Proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Office, and Google
  • Bilingualism (English, French) is considered an asset.
